Russian Secrets - Chapter 1Total shock coursed through her; her heart was pounding in her ears. She fled in fear. She could not believe anyone anymore. She was beyond distress - her trust was shattered. Her feet pounded the ground as she ran and her hair was slick with perspiration.
To her chest, she clutched a tiny being wrapped in a blanket. She held the child close to her trembling body to try and offer some kind of comfort. She looked down and saw her torn jeans, muddied feet and the deep, bleeding gashes on her bruised legs. Also glancing at her hands, she saw crimson blood still wet on her fingertips. She felt like crying, because of all the fear and uncertainty plaguing her mind, but she needed to be brave. She had to get away; to escape from the horror of what had happened in what seemed like such a short time ago.
